INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTING PHOTOS AT DISCUSSION FORUMs--------------------EXPIOWA

To use many new Discussion Forums to thier potential you will need to be able to post your photos.
In order to display a photo at various forums it must already be posted somewhere on-line. If you register at www.photobucket.com they will host your photos for free.


The following instructions are for use with Internet Explorer. Netscape follows the same general format but there are some minor differences.
STEP 1 - FIND YOUR PHOTO ON-LINE


Once you are at the site where your photo is, put the curser on the picture and "right click" your mouse. You will see a menu pop up like this.

Click. "Properties".
STEP 2 - COPY YOUR Address: [URL]

Spelling must be exact. (UPPER AND LOWER CASE SENSITIVE)
I recommend highlighting and copying here. You will be instructed in the next step where to paste.

Note: If using Netscape, click on the address it will take you to a page with just the photo, then copy your photos web address from the address bar at the top.
STEP 3 - GO TO THE DISCUSSION FORUM - (Step 3 Revised)


Once at your "Profile" page, Set your User Preferences to these settings:

Always attach my signature: Yes
Always allow BBCode: Yes
Always allow HTML: Yes
Always enable Smilies: Yes

Next, go to the "Avatar Control Panel" section at the bottom of the page and enter your photo's web address. It must be letter for letter. Upper and lower case as well as punctuation must also be exact or your photo will not be displayed.

CLICK SUBMIT WHEN FINISHED.

ADDING PHOTOS TO A POST OR YOUR SIGNATURE

To add a photo to a post or signature you will need to add message board code like this.(below)
[img]http://www.photo_address.com/123/abc.gif[/img]

[img]Before the address of your photo.
[/img] After your photo address.

These markers should not show up in the final post. Use the PREVIEW button before posting to make sure it looks right if your forum has one.

Note:You can add the photo to your signature only by going into your "Profile" and adding the appropriate information into your signature box.

 

FREE PHOTO RESIZING SOFTWARE

You can find photo resizing software at http://www.fookes.com/ezthumbs/ Download  and install Easy Thumbs 2.6, it is free and works great.

If you are making an avarar photo resize it to 150 pixels wide, (or the widest allowable by the forum that you will be posting in). This will provide the best photo quality.

 

PHOTO HOSTING

Once your photo is ready to post go to The Gallery section the forum that you are using and "Submit" your photos. They will then be hosed on line and ready for use. Note: Some forums check photos before they become available and there may be a short delay.

 


 


Some websites will not allow this type of "remote linking"
and your photo will only appear for a short time or not at all.
If this is the case for you, there are people at each forum
that will host photos for you.
